Kinja'd!!!

Two observations: 1- It looks pretty sharp in person; I thought I would hate it, I don't. 2- It is friggin' HUGE! It was at a light with the current generation model nearby, the size difference is drastic.

Why does everything have to be so angry.

Because soccer moms need to project their anger through traffic.

And why does it have fogs AND leds? Does Toyota know that LEDs can replace fogs entirely?

Why does it have separate high beams? Toyota can't afford bi-xenons?

Why am I paying attention to details that a soccer mom won't ever care about?

eeeeeeeeeeeeeew DO NOT WANT

Come on Toyota, your cars are great, but you need to bring us the regular standard-height Corolla and Camry wagons. The Euro Camry is fucking awesome.

CAFE negates that.

It would cost Toyota more if they don't meet or exceed passenger car fleet average fuel economy standards.

CUVs/SUVs have a lower threshold as 'light trucks' than passenger cars... so the cars get additional ride height.

Considering the DOT can't keep the roads in good repair, the additional ride height and suspension travel isn't all that un-welcome. public streets aren't tracks, and aren't even all that smooth anymore, so it isn't like super-sport handling is beneficial. The rough roads just pound those cars into submission.

DRLs and Fog lights have different output, and different focus requirements.

4 beam headlights tend to have better coverage, and less compromised beam output as well... although the 2013-current Venza does have 2-mode HID projectors. They are better than halogen 2-beam combo headlights. But I wouldn't argue with HID lows and HIR high beams.

Highlander probably puts more money into interior amenities, I would guess.

Even Toyota doesn't make them like they used to :(

My 96 ES300 (Camry) has about the same ground clearance as these crossovers (stance, yo) and can even go over speed humps at 40 mph. Potholes don't bother me! It also helps that I installed new quick struts not too long ago.

But yeah, CAFE is stupid and actually counterproductive.
